German FA chief calls FIFA's investor plan for World Cup a "fatal signal"

Bernd Neuendorf, president of the German Football Association (DFB), has sharply opposed FIFA's plan to bring private investors into the football World Cup. Speaking to ZDF, he called the idea a "fatal signal" and warned it risks alienating fans from the tournament. Neuendorf urged that the sporting character of the competition be protected.
