Poland's NFZ targets 'suitcase doctors' with new rules from October
Poland's National Health Fund (NFZ) has announced measures to combat the phenomenon of "suitcase doctors" — surgeons who perform procedures outside their home facilities, often without adequate support. From 1 October, some procedures will no longer be reimbursed by the NFZ when performed on general surgery wards and will only be funded on specialist wards. The NFZ describes the issue as "truly serious."
