Senate panel backs Trump's nominees for CDC director and pandemic preparedness

The Senate health committee approved two Trump administration nominees on Thursday: Erica Schwartz as CDC director and Sean Kaufman as assistant secretary for preparedness and response. Schwartz was backed by all Republicans and Democrat Tim Kaine of Virginia, while all other Democrats opposed her. Kaufman received only Republican votes.
