Schools short of teachers — retirees and overtime keep system afloat

With a month left before the end of summer holidays, thousands of teaching posts across Poland remain unfilled. School heads are hiring retirees and under-qualified staff, while existing teachers work overtime. Experts warn the shortages are most acute in maths, sciences and foreign languages, and that the crisis will deepen.
