Overlooked fossil reveals new 210-million-year-old Triassic predator
A fossil overlooked for nearly 80 years has been identified as a previously unknown crocodile relative from 210 million years ago, found in what is now New Mexico. Named Eosphorosuchus lacrimosa, the jackal-sized Triassic predator had a reinforced skull, powerful jaw muscles and a short snout adapted for tackling larger prey.
