US 30-year bond yield hits 19-year high as Fed holds rates
The US Federal Reserve held its key interest rate steady at 3.5%–3.75% for the fifth consecutive meeting. Following the decision, the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond jumped 14 basis points to nearly 5.24%, its highest level since 2007. Markets fear the central bank is not moving fast enough to bring inflation under control.
