HPV HR test replaces cervical smear in Poland's national screening from 1 August

From 1 August, Poland's National Health Fund (NFZ) will replace the traditional cervical smear with the HPV HR test in its cancer-screening programme. The new test detects the human papillomavirus before cellular abnormalities appear, making it a more effective screening tool. A positive HPV HR result does not mean cancer but requires further diagnostic follow-up.
