Ukraine's F-16s shot down 2,500 drones but the fleet is wearing out fast

Ukraine's F-16 fighters have destroyed more than 2,500 Russian Geran and Gerbera one-way attack drones, but the intensive use is consuming an unsustainable number of airframe hours and air-to-air missiles, according to analyst Justin Bronk of the Royal United Services Institute. Russia produces over 6,000 such drones per month, outpacing what a small fighter fleet can intercept before requiring lengthy factory-level maintenance. Bronk warns that relying on fighter jets to counter mass drone attacks is not a sustainable long-term strategy for Ukraine.
