EU Approves First Oral GLP-1 Obesity Pill — Wegovy in Tablet Form

The European Commission has approved Wegovy in tablet form as the first oral GLP-1 receptor agonist authorised to treat obesity and overweight in the EU. Until now, semaglutide — the active ingredient in Wegovy — was available only as an injection. The approval opens a new treatment option for patients who were reluctant to use injectable medication.
