Grant Thornton acquires NYSE-listed rival to become fifth-largest US auditor

Grant Thornton, one of the world's largest audit groups, has announced a takeover of a New York Stock Exchange-listed rival. The deal will make it the fifth-largest auditing firm in the United States, closing the gap on the Big Four. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
