Fraudsters impersonate Chinese newspaper to extort Bitcoin from companies
China Business Journal has warned that fraudsters are impersonating the publication and demanding Bitcoin payments from companies to suppress purported negative investigative reports about them. The scam targets businesses by threatening to publish damaging stories unless a cryptocurrency payment is made. The newspaper has clarified it has no connection to these extortion attempts.
