Hiker impaled on trekking pole atop Montana's highest peak walks 10 miles to safety
David Cifaldi was nearing the summit of Montana's highest peak with two friends when he slipped and impaled himself on his own trekking pole, which pierced through his body. Despite the severe injury, he walked approximately 10 miles down the mountain before reaching help. Doctors reportedly assessed his chances of survival as slim.
