Self-repairing dress made from Cordyceps fungus biodegrades after use
Scientists have created a biodegradable fabric from living Cordyceps militaris fungus — the same species that inspired the series "The Last of Us". The material can self-repair when damaged, repels water, offers UV protection and almost completely breaks down in soil after use. The development is seen as a major step toward sustainable fashion.
