New EU duty on parcels from China from July 1 — no refund if you return the item
From July 1, the European Union applies a customs duty on parcels from outside the EU worth up to 150 euros, including shipments from China. If a customer returns the goods, the duty paid is non-refundable — the cost is borne entirely by the consumer. The new rules particularly affect shoppers on platforms such as Shein and Temu.
