Switzerland: oldest Roman legion fortifications uncovered at Windisch

During nearly eleven months of excavations at the Vindonissa site in Windisch, Switzerland, archaeologists uncovered fragments of the oldest known Roman legionary camp fortifications in the country. As the dig progressed, researchers made a series of further discoveries shedding new light on the Roman military presence in the region.
