Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta and Oracle hiding $1.65 trillion in off-balance-sheet debt

An investigation by Nikkei Asia claims that five major US tech companies — Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle — are concealing approximately $1.65 trillion in liabilities outside their official financial statements. That figure exceeds the $1.35 trillion these firms officially disclosed last quarter. Meta alone reportedly holds around $420 billion in off-balance-sheet obligations, prompting analysts to draw parallels with the Enron collapse of 2001.
