UN chief pushes to break Cyprus reunification deadlock

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday proposed steps to break the long-standing deadlock over Cyprus's status. The island has been divided since 1974, when Turkey seized the north; the Greek Cypriot south is an EU member state. Turkey responded cautiously to Guterres's initiative.
