Two elderly people die from Vibrio bacteria infection in Germany

Germany has recorded two deaths from Vibrio bacteria infections since the start of 2026, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). Both victims were elderly. Vibrio bacteria thrive in warm waters and pose particular risks to older or immunocompromised individuals.
