Two die from Vibrio bacteria contracted while swimming in the Baltic Sea, Germany warns
Germany's Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported on Wednesday that two people have died this year from infections caused by Vibrio bacteria, which thrive in warm coastal waters. Both victims were elderly and contracted the bacteria while swimming in the Baltic Sea. Rising water temperatures are increasingly conducive to the spread of this pathogen, posing a risk to swimmers.
