Wildfires in Crete kill two firefighters, thousands of tourists evacuated

Greece is battling a wave of wildfires sweeping both its islands and the mainland. Two firefighters were killed fighting a large blaze near Rethymno in northern Crete, and five villages were evacuated. A third firefighter died in the southern Peloponnese. Thousands of tourists were evacuated from affected areas.
