Red-and-Black Firebugs Are Harmless and Beneficial — Don't Kill Them

Firebugs — the red-and-black insects that appear in large numbers on trees and pavements across Poland in summer — are completely harmless to humans and play a beneficial role in nature. They feed primarily on fallen seeds and decomposing organic matter, aiding natural decomposition processes. Their presence in a garden is more of a benefit than a nuisance.
