Spanish lawyer fined €840 for citing non-existent court rulings generated by AI

A Spanish court in the Canary Islands fined a lawyer €840 (approximately 3,630 zloty) after he submitted legal documents containing citations to non-existent rulings of the Supreme Court and Constitutional Court. The fabricated references were generated by an artificial intelligence tool. The case was reported by the EFE news agency.
