Failing New Mexico geothermal plant revived at full capacity thanks to a new well

In June 2024, company Zanskar acquired the failing Lightning Dock geothermal plant in New Mexico, where underground reservoir water was growing colder each day, making the plant uneconomical. Using advanced geological modelling and modern drilling technology, Zanskar identified a better well site, drilled thousands of feet down, and restored the plant to full capacity. The project highlights the untapped potential of geothermal energy as a round-the-clock, emissions-free power source.
