US Navy holds first live-fire exercise with GARC uncrewed surface vessel

The US Navy conducted its first live-fire training exercise with its Global Autonomous Reconnaissance Craft (GARC) uncrewed surface vessel during the Rim of the Pacific exercise off Hawaii on 24 July. The GARC targeted the hulk of the decommissioned USS Peleliu during a live sinking exercise. The drill came just over two weeks after US Central Command used Corsair sea drones in combat against Iran's Bandar Abbas naval base — the first combat use of American sea drones.
