Scientists reveal in-situ structure of rice photosystem supercomplex

Using cryo-electron microscopy, researchers resolved the structure of the Oryza sativa photosystem II–light harvesting complex II (PSII–LHCII) supercomplex within its native membrane. The approach preserved physiologically relevant proteins and lipids typically lost during purification. The study was published in Nature on 29 July 2026.
