Polish Alcohol Excise Revenues Drop Sharply as Beer and Spirits Consumption Falls

Excise revenue from spirits dropped 13% and from beer 5.8% in the first five months of the year, Finance Ministry Deputy Director Mateusz Najsztub told parliament. Wine excise revenue rose 46% over the same period. The decline in hard alcohol consumption and production is putting pressure on the state budget.
