Polish Vodka Excise Revenue Down 13% as Wine Taxes Jump 46%

Excise revenue from ethyl alcohol fell by 13% and from beer by 5.8% between January and May, Deputy Finance Ministry Director Mateusz Najsztub told the Sejm. Wine excise revenues, however, surged by 46% over the same period. The shift points to changing drinking habits among Poles and a potential shortfall in the state budget.
