AI takes on undeciphered languages Linear A and Etruscan

Artificial intelligence is being tested as a tool for deciphering lost languages such as Linear A — the writing system of the Minoan civilisation on Crete — and Etruscan from pre-Roman Italy. Linear A has no confirmed link to any known language, making it a century-long puzzle for linguists. Etruscan is partially understood through short funerary inscriptions, but its grammar and deeper meaning remain elusive.
