Physicists solve quantum mystery — but now older results don't add up

For 25 years, physicists were puzzled by a one-part-in-a-million discrepancy between theoretical predictions and experimental measurements of how certain particles wobble in a magnetic field — a tantalising hint at unknown particles. In 2021, updated calculations appeared to resolve the discrepancy. However, the solution has now thrown older experimental results into question, creating a new puzzle in quantum physics.
