Free-range organic eggs may have a larger environmental footprint than caged ones
Contrary to popular belief, free-range organic eggs are not necessarily better for the environment than eggs from caged hens. Free-range chickens require more feed and land, which can result in a larger carbon footprint. The "organic" or "free-range" label does not automatically mean a lower environmental impact.
