UNESCO adds Lebanon, Ukraine and Palestine sites to endangered heritage list
At its session in Busan, UNESCO expanded the World Heritage List to 1,273 sites in 173 countries, adding 19 cultural, 5 natural and one mixed property. Sites in Lebanon, Ukraine, South Sudan, Palestine and Suriname were placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger due to armed conflicts and instability. For the first time, the Comoros, São Tomé and Príncipe, and South Sudan joined the main list, reflecting UNESCO's push for greater geographical representation.
