Hungary declares state of alert as water shortage hits three-quarters of the country
Hungary's government declared a state of alert on Wednesday due to severe water shortages affecting approximately three-quarters of the country's territory. Budapest is setting up emergency water distribution points ahead of a heatwave expected to bring temperatures as high as 39°C. It is one of the most serious water crises the country has faced.
