Dead bumblebees on sidewalks: heat and pesticides are killing them off

Bumblebees naturally have short lifespans, but extreme heat, pesticides and habitat loss are accelerating their deaths in growing numbers. Pesticides either poison the bees directly or destroy the flowering plants they rely on, while shrinking habitats leave fewer safe places to nest and feed. Experts say protecting native plants and reducing chemical use are key steps to helping these vital pollinators survive.
