Authors sue AI companies over training data — and some are winning

Author Kirk Wallace Johnson found his books, including The Feather Thief and The Fishermen and the Dragon, listed in a searchable dataset of works used to train AI models, published by The Atlantic. He is among a growing number of writers who are taking legal action against AI companies for using their work without permission or compensation. Some of these cases are already resulting in wins or settlements in favour of authors.
