Fast Metals turns toxic aluminium waste into a source of critical minerals

Aluminium production has left the world with billions of tonnes of caustic red mud waste. US startup Fast Metals has devised a process that uses other industrial waste to neutralise this sludge while also extracting critical minerals from it. The company aims to be profitable by combining environmental clean-up with raw-material recovery.
