Mercury has a radiation belt — but it only appears intermittently
Scientists have confirmed that Mercury, like other planets with magnetic fields, traps harmful radiation in a belt-like structure. However, Mercury's radiation belt is highly irregular and only appears intermittently, unlike the more stable belts found around other planets in the Solar System.
