BMW to cut 8,000 jobs by end of 2027 via voluntary redundancy

BMW has announced a voluntary redundancy programme targeting up to 8,000 jobs by the end of 2027, focusing on administrative and R&D staff in Germany. Offers will begin going out in October following six weeks of negotiations with the works council. BMW joins Volkswagen, which plans to cut 100,000 jobs, Porsche (5,000) and Mercedes in a wave of German automotive workforce reductions.
