Susumu Tonegawa, Japan's sole Nobel laureate in physiology, has died
Susumu Tonegawa, Japan's only Nobel Prize winner in physiology or medicine, has died. The molecular biologist was celebrated for revealing the genetic mechanism behind antibody diversity and for his later research into memory. His obituary was published by Nature on 29 July 2026.
