Heatwave threatens to reignite wildfires in France's Gironde region

The wildfire in France's Gironde department is stabilised but officials are on high alert, as scorching temperatures return and 14 re-ignitions were recorded on 28 July. In total, 42,000 hectares have burned and over 220,000 people evacuated, including 57,000 from towns near Bordeaux overnight. An incoming heatwave threatens to dramatically worsen firefighting conditions.
