Korean box office up 42% in H1 2026, led by local hits
South Korea's box office revenue surged 41.9% in the first half of 2026 to $396.6 million (KRW 579 billion), according to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC). Local productions drove the growth, with The King's Warden, Colony and Salmokji: Whispering Water topping the domestic charts. Among imported titles, Project Hail Mary led the rankings.
