Houthis attack Saudi oil tankers in Red Sea, leaving Middle East oil routes in doubt
On July 20, the Iran-backed Houthi movement declared a blockade against Saudi Arabia and subsequently attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. The strikes threaten vital export routes for Middle Eastern oil and eliminate previously available backup options for getting crude out of the region. The escalation raises serious concerns about global oil supply security.
