Portugal wildfires: over 1,000 firefighters battle three major blazes in the north

More than a thousand firefighters are battling three major forest and grassland fires in northern Portugal, with local residents also joining the effort. The most difficult conditions are in the Guarda district, where strong winds are helping the fires spread rapidly. At least one motorway has been closed in the affected area.
