Empty maternity wards to become care homes as Poland's demographics shrink

GUS data shows Poland's population fell by 159,000 year-on-year, deepening the country's demographic crisis. Dr Jerzy Gryglewicz argues that empty paediatric and gynaecological wards should now be converted into long-term care facilities. Without such reform, hospitals risk maintaining costly but underused wards as the population ages.
