Opinion: President entrenches legal chaos over neo-judge status in Poland

Commentator Piotr Szymaniak argues that a recent presidential decision entrenches the legal uncertainty surrounding judges appointed by the politically-controlled KRS, known as neo-judges. The hope that the problem would resolve itself biologically within about 30 years has receded. Szymaniak concludes that the president appears to prefer a judiciary locked in permanent dispute over judicial legitimacy.
