Online scam losses may be 7 times higher than officially reported in the US

A new estimate suggests that actual losses from online scams in the United States are roughly seven times higher than officially reported figures. Cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence and social media have made it easier for fraudsters to operate at scale. Most victims do not report their losses to authorities.
