Fręch beats Ann Li after tornado scare, ends 0–5 losing streak

Magdalena Fręch was trailing Ann Li 0–4 in the first round of the WTA 500 event in Washington when the match was suspended due to a tornado warning. After play resumed, the Polish player transformed her game and won the match in two sets. It was her first ever win against Li, ending a 0–5 head-to-head record. Li had earlier this season beaten Iga Świątek in Madrid.
