Wildfires and drought threaten Bordeaux vineyards in climate wake-up call

France's largest wine region, Bordeaux, is facing a severe climate crisis as wildfires near its famed vineyards coincide with prolonged drought and repeated heatwaves. Many chateaux lack sufficient water to irrigate their entire estates, and without rainfall in the coming weeks, vines could shut down to protect themselves, leaving grapes to shrivel on the vine, growers warn.
