Iran closes Strait of Hormuz to ships of countries receiving frozen Iranian assets
Iran's military announced on Tuesday that vessels belonging to companies and states receiving funds from frozen Iranian assets will be barred from the Strait of Hormuz. The move is a direct response to President Trump's earlier declaration that losses from Iranian attacks on shipping would be covered by approximately $100 billion in frozen Iranian funds held in the US. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil shipping chokepoints.
