UN: 300,000 people from 80+ countries trapped in East Asian online scam centres
The UN has warned that human trafficking to online scam centres in East Asia is skyrocketing, with an estimated 300,000 people from more than 80 countries currently being exploited and abused by criminal gangs. Migration authorities say gangs are trafficking increasing numbers of victims globally. The scale of the crisis has prompted urgent calls for international action.
