Fauci testifies before Senate on COVID-19 pandemic origins and response

Former top U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci is testifying before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee following a subpoena from Senator Rand Paul. Republicans have long criticised the government's pandemic response and are pushing to assign blame for the virus's outbreak and what they call a subsequent cover-up. The hearing is taking place in Washington on Wednesday.
